Kylie and I have been friends for a while now – so much so that we are known as Thelma and Louise.
(With a happier ending).
I knew instinctively that this would be a great album. With the addition of my April brother, Michael Carpenter at the helm, it is a polished, instrumentally enhanced album with Kylie’s eclectic mixed of Bluegrass, Mountain Music, Folk Music, Celtic Music, Bush Ballads, Traditional Country and a bit of a twist, nothing is beyond her reach.
An amazing band, wonderful producer and a bunch of original songs that have heart and a sense of adventure about them, with all of the ups and downs that she has been through the last few years – as we all have been through, this is a very balanced sense of joy and heartache.
Kylie always delivers, but this is something a little bit extra special. Even in the sad songs, there is hope, and in the happy songs, there is something to make you smile.
Kylie’s songs always have a sense of family and home. She paints a picture of the simple things, the memories and moments that we, of a certain age, can all relate to.This woman has a way of capturing the past but also a way of looking ahead. I am not really sure that there is another singer/songwriter like Kylie in Australia, though she is very Australian.
She is a certain type, positive but honest, looking at things as they are, as they were, as they always will be.
There are songs here that you will almost sing like a psalm.
There are others that you will want to tap your toes to or sing a long to.
This album flows easily.
Wantia's album review.
Hello gorgeousness! Finally got to listen to your beautiful CD during our 14hr drive yesterday through till 6am this morning! You are so sweet and gentle and graciously appreciate all the forgotten blessings in life through softly spoken unassuming lyrics… like a sweet strong crocheted doyly… that our grandmothers would have made to place under a vase of carefully cut fresh flowers. A magnificent contrast to my “ take no prisoners” approach to life’s awkward topics! You are a stunning example to the human race Kylie. I am mortified that you have not yet been fully acknowledged for your version of Australiana literature…. Kylie Collier Adams… I present to you this gorgeouslygold embossed guitar, straight from my heart!

Totally Biased Fan Review: Kylie Adams-Collier – Little Stone:
by Kaz Johnson. 2017.
At Hats Off in July of 2016, I met a Facebook friend and bought her album at the Post Office Hotel. I kept running into her over the few days of Tamworth’s mid year festival and then I went home and reviewed her album.
We chatted on Facebook a fair bit after that, so I must have said something right in the review.
I mentioned something like, I am just about to book my train to Tamworth for January (2017) in a post on Facebook and she said, I’ll give you a lift. Kylie and I had one Heck of a trip to Tamworth from Hornsby.
We had a whole stash of cds to play but we chatted the whole way and Kylie gave me an in car concert – we never got to hear any of the cds! Some of the songs that are on this album had their first airing on that car trip. Kylie is one of those artists who does a multitude of things….including a radio show every Sunday and a lot of appearances at just about every festival on the East Coast of Australia. Kylie helps out a lot of people. She has made me smile on more than one occasion when it was the last thing that I felt like doing.
Kylie and a bunch of very experienced and talented musicians have put this album together in a very different style to many artists these days. Kylie has a very traditional country music style but with fresh songs and new stories.
Every song is very Australian. It mentions an Aussie town or two, an Aussie tradition, a piece of Aussie history, an Aussie character in each song, or at least one or two of the above elements. I am not sure whether there is another artist in Australia who sounds quite like Kylie, she has a very unique style and sound. I guess it is a fusion between folk, hillbilly and bluegrass at times.
Kylie is quite the character. If you have ever listened to her radio show, read her facebook posts of travelled with her to Tamworth, you will know what I mean. Some of her songs have that tongue in cheek, fun approach but many tackle sensitive and important subjects. She is quite the storyteller too and that comes across in her songs which all tell us a tale.
The first rule of writing is “Write about what you know”.
Kylie certainly does that with her songwriting, with every song clearly a piece of her heart and mind.
Overseas listeners may get lost with some of the references but they will also learn a thing or two about Australia and Australians.
I know how hard Kylie worked to put this album together.
The hard work paid off.
Country All Over. Drum Roll 'Little Stone' album review.
By Al Slade. 2018.
This artist has been singing on stage since about 1987 and has been in various groups and genres but in 2014 settled into country and recorded her first full album in that genre, now it is time to talk about her third and latest release.
KYLIE ADAMS-COLLIER's album "LITTLE STONE" is a well produced twelve track album which was recorded at KROSS KUT RECORDS with LINDSAY (WADDO) WADDINGTON in the producers chair.
All the songs are written by KYLIE and offer a varied range of subject matter included are a war story, a tribute to one of our country music legends and a few about this great country of ours. When it comes to picking stand-out tracks and my favourites I would like to mention two or three.
First off songs about this great country I am singling out "FERRY OVER THE CLARENCE", "THE QUITE OF THE BUSH WELCOMES ME" both have strong story-lines and are able to paint a picture in your mind whilst listening to them.
The tribute to one of our country music legends is "ON A SANDSTONE RIDGE" paying homage to SMOKY DAWSON of a time when he had his ranch on the outskirts of Sydney. Then the fun/singalong tracks include "BACKYARD TRUCKING FIRE" great story and one KYLIE has to get right, "MOONSHINE" a great singalong and "HOOK, LINE AND SINKER" (No not a fishing song.... but then it could be) but think about what can occur on the last day of February in a leap year. My personal favourite is "MONTEVIDEO MARU 1942" about a war story concerning a tragedy that not a lot of people are aware of but is a very personal part of KYLIE's background and she has told the story with great feeling and respect.
Must stop otherwise I will end up writing about all the tracks and leave nothing for you to find out yourselves. A worthy offering as a follow up to "SWEET DREAMS 'TIL MORNING" that I reviewed before (see previous Drum Rolls. An album that needs to bought, listened to and enjoyed.

By Al Slade. 2017.
Had heard of this lady before meeting and listening to her music at Clarence Valley Country Muster in October.
She enjoys her music and being on stage, undertaking child and dog minding to help pay for her recordings and travel.
KYLIE ADAMS-COLLIER has released a twelve track CD titled SWEET DREAMS 'TIL MORNING which includes seven originals, including a finalist in the Tamworth Songwriters Awards for gospel song which will be announced during the Festival in January, that song is WAITING FOR HEAVEN TO RAIN which is recorded as a duet with JUSTIN STANDLEY and is one of the stand out tracks. Some of the other great original tracks include SWEET DREAMS 'TIL MORNING I love the way KYLIE brings this song alive, GOODBYE DEAR TAMWORTH which is written from KYLIE's Tamworth adventures during the Festival and her memories of her father in GOODNIGHT DEAR DAD GOODNIGHT. After selecting these tracks I must say that all the originals are well crafted songs and beautifully sung.
The covers are a varied selection of standards, show songs and a couple one written by HANK WILLIAMS and another by BUCK OWENS. In all a great CD produced by GARY BROWN. The easiest way to sum up this album would be to use KYLIE's song COME ON AND DANCE WITH ME as it will have your feet tapping and you bopping in your seat.
Totally Biased Fan Review: Kylie Adams-Collier – 'Sweet Dreams 'til Morning.'
by Kaz Johnson.2016.
This little pocket dynamo made us all exhausted just watching her energy and vitality on stage at Hats Off. With signature red flower in her hair, pure country voice and a mixture of folk and country flavour through her songs and stories, you can’t help but feel for the songs that she sings and rejoice in her simple candour.
The Songs:
I can’t help it if I’m still in love with you – Hank Williams – Every fair dinkum country music singer does a Hank song somewhere in their career, or at the very least, they know one. A good choice, one of my favourites.
When loved ones are near – Kylie Adams-Collier – Kylie is not just a bundle of energy, she seems to me to be a little spiritual, probably the Bellingen coming out in her. This song says it all, really.
Crying Time – Buck Owens – Probably one of the most sung country songs ever, and one of the most respected songwriters in Buck Owens. Most folks that love country music can sing along to this one. The guitar work in this song usually sound like they are on the verge of crying too.
I wanna live on a farm: Kylie Adams-Collier – Don’t we all? A pure country voice singing a pure country song.
Don’t Fence Me In: Cole Porter/Robert Fletcher – An oldie but a goodie. I am sure when Cole Porter wrote songs he never thought that one of the most enduring would be a country song but most people know this one, even today. It is a good one for around the campfire.
Sweet dreams ‘til morning – Kylie Adams-Collier – The title song and one full of imagery. A touch of the Judith Durham on here.
Careless Love: Spencer Williams and Martha E Koenig – A lot of people have sung this, most memorably for me, Lena Horne and Fats Domino! So many different kinds of artists and it is a beauty.
Dream a Little Dream of Me: – Wilbur Schwandt and Fabian Andre – One of my fave singers of all time, Mama Cass made this her own. If there ever was a version to compete with it, it is this one. Wonderful job, Kylie.
Come on and dance with me – Kylie Adams-Collier – This will go down well in old village halls and anywhere where they want to dance old time style. I can’t dance to save myself, but I was tempted to do a twirl in my living room.
Waiting for heaven to rain – Kylie Adams-Collier – The first strains of this song sounded like we were being transported to Mexico. I looked over my shoulder to check and see if there was a guy in a sombrero. Justin Standley features on this song and does a great job.
Goodbye Dear Tamworth – Kylie Adams-Collier – People always have me at the title if they put Tamworth in it, being an old Tamworth native. Then if they throw in all of the familiar sights and sounds – including the sign mentioned in the song, they can’t go wrong.
Goodnight dear dad goodnight – Kylie Adams-Collier – This album is dedicated to Kylie’s Dad, so it is not a surprise when she does a song salute to him. Lovely song and a great way to wind things up.
The beauty of country music is that it is full of so many different styles. Kylie touches on a few on this album but basically it is country music in its most pure and simple form.
The musicians on this album enrich its simple beauty. Bob Howe, Allan Tomkins, Tomi Graso and Andrew Clermont to name a few. Produced by Gary Brown and mastered by one of my favourites, Herm Kovak, it is a nostalgic, peaceful, tender tribute.
OZCMR 'Sweet Dreams 'til Morning' review by Mark Eckel.
Hi Kylie. I had to tell you this; I listened to your album. It is unique and you have a little something in your voice that lends itself to a distinct sound for the old songs that you have chosen. All up a lovely album that I will really enjoy playing.
Lorriane Pfitzner review of 'Sweet Dreams 'til Morning.' 2016.
This is an enjoyable album by Kylie who has written seven of the 12 songs she recorded.
Justin Standley joins Kylie on 'Waiting For Heaven to Rain', making it a standout song. 'Goodbye Dear Tamworth' is a story of being in Tamworth for the festival that she seemed to really enjoy.
Both the song title and 'When Loved Ones Are Near' are great tracks and shows that she can write good songs.
Produced by Sydney's Gary Brown, who is well known for his traditional style of music.
